Gate valves

Gate valves are generally used to shut off the flow of liquids (fully open or fully closed) rather than for flow regulation. Operation is by lifting / lowering the gate between the two seats, by turning a manual hand wheel or other actuating device attached to the stem. The turning of the handwheel causes either the stem to rise pulling up the gate, or the gate to screw up the thread of the stem, hence the definition, rising stem or rising gate.

Euroguarco manufacture gate valves, in forged or cast steel and alloys, by wedge gate, parallel slide gate, through conduit gate, split gate and OS&Y construction type, handwheel, chainwheel and gear operated or motorized with any type of actuator: electric, pneumatic, hydraulic and gas over oil.

Construction conforming to API 600, API 602 ASTM, ANSI, ASME, EN, DIN, BS.

Various optional designs are available: fire safe design, cryogenic service, buried service, sour service, stem extended, metal-to-metal, Solid or Flex Wedge, Y-Pattern, Angle Gate Valve, etc.

Forged Steel Gate Valves

Main features:

Forged steel gate valves are the most commonly used linear motion valves to start or stop the flow of medium in the piping industry. They allow bi-directional flow and are only used in fully open or fully closed positions. They cannot be used for throttling purposes.

  • Construction: full or reduced port design, rising stem, pressure seal bonnet, threaded and bolted bonnet;
  • Size: 3/8” up to 2”;
  • Class rating: ASME 150# to 2500# (PN, API and other Pressure Class Valves available on request);
  • End connection: threaded NPT, SW, BW and flanged;
  • Materials: Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex & Super Duplex Steel, Iron and Special Alloys;
  • Seating: Soft Seated or Metal Seated;
  • Obturator: Solid wedge;
  • Operator: manual – handwheel.

Cast Steel Gate Valves

Main features:

Cast steel gate valves are mostly used with larger pipe diameters since they are less complex to construct than other types of valves in large sizes. At high pressures, friction can become a problem. As the gate is pushed against its guiding rail by the pressure of the medium, it becomes harder to operate the valve. Large gate valves are sometimes fitted with a bypass controlled by a smaller valve to be able to reduce the pressure before operating the gate valve itself.

  • Construction: Full or reduced port design, rising stem, non-rising stem, pressure seal bonnet;
  • Size: 2” up to 42”;
  • Class rating: ASME 150# to 2500# (PN, API and other Pressure Class Valves available on request);
  • End connection: Flanged or BW;
  • Materials: Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex & Super Duplex Steel, Iron and Special Alloys;
  • Seating: Soft Seated or Metal Seated;
  • Obturator: Solid wedge;
  • Operator: manual – handwheel.
