Thermo-acoustic insulation boards

Obtained by combining one or more layers of insulating materials with a surface finish, they are used for thermal and acoustic insulation in industry, building and transportation.

Peculiar is their use for hull and deck naval insulation.

Septum insertions lead to sound transmission loss, which makes the boards suitable for acoustic insulation of living spaces and machineries.

Surface finishes

Insulation boards can be faced with a variety of surface finishes, among which are:

  • CF: coated glass cloth, for tough, water-proof, thermal interior finish.
  • VBD: polyester/aluminum foil laminate, for high performance vapor barrier. Mainly used for duct liners.
  • RMW: reinforced polyester film, to provide a tough, moisture and oil resistant acoustic interior finish.
  • PFG: perforated glass cloth, for a tough, acoustic interior finish. The Polyimide base board is grooved to provide a recess behind the perforations in the facing which allows the face to be painted without the loss of acoustical value.
  • PAF: perforated and ribbed aluminum sheet, designed to provide a durable and attractive suspended ceiling. It makes metal shielding unnecessary.
